About the Role

Haringey Youth Justice Service remains part of the Children and Young People’s Directorate located within the Early Help, Prevention and SEND Division.
We are committed to work in a systemic way to prevent children and young people from offending and reoffending, to ensure that custody is the last option, and that children and young people are safe, secure and provided with supportive interventions that address the causes of offending behaviour.
This is an exciting time to come and join us as a Senior Practitioner in the Youth Justice Service, you will be joining a service that has:

• Achieved the ‘Youth Justice SEND Quality Lead Status’ redesignation with a Child First Commendation.
• A number of Innovation projects
• Is a recognised licence centre for AQA’s

Do you have the ambition and drive to join the team in taking Haringey Youth Justice Service forward, providing effective interventions that produce positive outcomes for children, families and communities. We are seeking a qualified worker with a track record of performing to a high standard in preventing offending and reoffending.
A recognized social work or criminal justice qualification i.e. Diploma, degree or master’s in social work with current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a registered social worker, or relevant professional qualification in, Probation, Teaching or Youth work and relevant experience in Youth Justice Leadership.

About You

The ideal candidate will have some experience of managing within the Youth Justice Service and must hold a relevant qualification of social work and or criminal justice.
The candidate must have a deep knowledge and understanding of youth justice and children’s legislation and the ability to build strong working relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
The candidate will need to be a resilient and authoritative manager who places children and young people and their welfare at the heart of their practice. The candidate will oversee a team that manages complex cases, planning intervention and support in a timely manner and, always, making sure that children and young people’s voices are heard, positively influence practice, and recorded consistently.
This post will primarily manage the Out of Court Disposal Team (including Turnaround) and Parenting initiatives. In addition, there is a requirement for the post holder to case manage a small complex caseload (Post Court).
