About the Role

• To oversee the general maintenance and cleanliness of the site in order to provide a safe, secure and healthy environment for pupils, staff, parents, visitors and other users.
• Keeping the Children Centre grounds safe, secure, tidy, and presentable – free of litter on a daily basis.
• To be responsible for small repair works, maintenance and making safe the fabric of the building
• To be responsible for non-structural repairs and maintenance, heating and ventilation and other general site services within the establishment.
• Reporting of repairs and maintenance issues
• Minor refurbishment and redecoration
• Opening the buildings in the morning and locking up at the end of the day
• Programming the alarm systems
• Gardening duties and weed maintenance
• Porterage of stock, furniture, equipment and other items in the school building
• Some Experience of using a computer
• Good communication and organisational skills
• To maintain Health and Safety Records,
• To carry out and record regular safety equipment tests, such as fire drills, fire alarms, emergency lighting
• Reporting of repairs and maintenance issues
• To work as a team with other site managers, including travelling and working across sites.

About You

The ideal candidate will have

• GCSE at level A-C in English and Mathematics or equivalent
• Some computer literate with good working knowledge of ICT, including using the internet and Microsoft suite
• Good organisational skills
• Ability to prioritise, plan, schedule and meet deadlines and evaluate work
• An understanding of health, safety and security issues and relevant legislations affecting schools
• To know how assess and carry out minor repairs and maintenance
• An understanding of premises maintenance issues
• Has up to date knowledge of relevant legislations and guidance in relation to working with, and the protection of, children and young people
