About the role

Are you a seasoned network and voice engineer ready to take your career to the next level? We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Network and Voice Engineer to join our innovative team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional voice and data network services across the Council. You will tackle complex incidents, lead technical changes, and drive service improvements, ensuring minimal disruption and loss of service. You will be the go-to expert for diagnosing and resolving intricate network issues, utilizing your deep technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. Additionally, you will mentor and guide less experienced colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

About the team

Join our dynamic Digital and Change Business Unit within the Culture, Strategy and Engagement Directorate. Our team is dedicated to driving digital transformation and delivering high-quality user experiences across the Council. We work collaboratively with suppliers, partners, and stakeholders to ensure seamless network services. You will report to the Networks Manager and play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our network infrastructure. Our team values innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence. Together, we strive to create a resilient, secure, and efficient digital environment that supports the Council’s mission and goals.

About you

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced network and voice engineer with a strong background in managing and troubleshooting Cisco devices, firewalls, and enterprise voice platforms. You should have a degree or equivalent vocational qualification or relevant Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP), in-depth knowledge of OSPF and BGP routing protocols, DNS, DHCP, IPAM platforms, and remote access technologies, and expertise in supporting SDWAN, broadband, leased line circuits, and common networking protocols. Experience with IP Telephony, Citrix NetScaler, and Wi-Fi components is essential, along with strong communication skills to effectively translate complex network matters to non-IT audiences. A proactive approach to identifying and addressing emerging technology issues, security trends, vulnerabilities, and threats is crucial.

Additionally, you should have experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation and leading complex upgrades or changes requiring out-of-hours availability. If you are passionate about network engineering, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are eager to contribute to the success of our team, we want to hear from you!
