About the role

We are recruiting two Senior Highway Engineers who will work on major and minor planned and responsive maintenance on footways, drainage and carriageways that will be funded from Council resources , regeneration schemes and other opportunities from new developments. 

Within the Highways Service we have several new permanent positions that will help us to continue to keep the highways network safe while supporting the economic growth of the borough. These posts will contribute to the service by allowing us to effectively maintain and improve our highways assets including drainage, footways, carriageways, street furniture and structures. All these posts will sit within the Highways and Maintenance Group which includes Maintenance and Improvements Teams.

About you

You will have a clear understanding of the principal responsibilities and the key issues facing the public sector in respect of highways maintenance. You will possess a working knowledge and understanding of highways, traffic, transport related legislation, statutory duties and working practice. An understanding of the current planning, sustainability and economic agendas which are influencing highway and transport policy, schemes and implementation will be required for these roles.
