Haringey’s vision for the future is one of sustainable growth, in housing and jobs and on helping our residents and businesses take advantage of that growth. We have got huge ambitions for Haringey. As the shape of local government continues to change, we are determined to rise to the challenge and find new ways to ensure that our residents enjoy the best opportunities in life. Working at Haringey gives you the opportunity to play a part in meeting those ambitions on behalf of everyone who calls the borough their home.

About the role

Placemaking in Haringey is about shaping places that empower all our residents, from young to old, to have real influence over changes to their local area, celebrate the rich heritage of our diverse communities and help local businesses to thrive. Alongside our placemaking programme, we are striving to create a good economy and good work opportunities for Haringey businesses and the community.

In 2023, the Council unveiled its vision, Shaping Wood Green, initiating a collaborative programme for the future of Wood Green that covers the short, medium and long term. It is underpinned by a series of six themes for improvement, and five placemaking areas of transformation. It sets out the Wood Green that the Council is committed to creating, in collaboration with local people and with help from our partners in the years ahead.
This is rooted in what residents, businesses and visitors have recently told us though Wood Green Voices engagement programme and supported by the Council’s own evidence and ambitions. This is our vision for what Wood Green could become. We are in search of skilled and seasoned Regeneration professionals to aid in realising the vision set out in Shaping Wood Green.

Transitioning from vision to implementation marks the next phase of Wood Green’s regeneration journey. In this context, we are seeking a dynamic professional to join the Wood Green team, taking the lead in steering ambitious capital, community, and economic development projects.

The role of Regeneration Manager entails leading a highly motivated team, spearheading diverse projects, encompassing co-designed retrofit community initiatives, public realm enhancements to bolster green spaces and air quality, and initiatives promoting active travel.
Notably, innovative strategies are earmarked to address challenges facing the high street, including the formulation of a town centre evening strategy and the conversion of retail units into cultural and civic infrastructure.

About the team

This permanent role offers the opportunity for professional growth within a supportive and friendly team environment, enabling the successful candidate to spearhead architectural and public realm projects at the heart of Wood Green.

About you

The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent project management skills, evidenced by a track record of delivering capital projects on time and within budget. Moreover, they should demonstrate practical experience in developing and overseeing various regeneration projects from inception to completion.

Essential attributes include a proven ability to form partnerships and engage communities in project delivery, as well as establishing positive and productive working relationships both internally and externally, including with landowners and key partners.

Experience in procuring and supervising project teams, including the commissioning of design work on architecture and public realm schemes from external consultancy teams, is also essential. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual capable of driving complex projects forward, necessitating regular liaison with senior managers, elected representatives, and a wide range of local stakeholders.

Importantly, they should have a demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively to ensure project objectives are achieved, along with experience in managing complex regeneration budgets over extended periods. They should be able to demonstrate track record in managing a highly motivated and experienced team within a fast-paced environment within a local authority.
