Hours of work:7.5 hours a week, 1.5 hours a day – Term Time Only
Contract Term: Permanent

Belmont Junior School is looking to appoint a committed, creative and enthusiastic Lunchtime Play Leader to join our dedicated and friendly team.
The role involves supporting children aged 7-11 years in the playground by setting up and leading play activities, modelling positive relationships and by celebrating all that the outdoors can provide. We believe being outside gives children one of the best possible environments in which to learn – this role is crucial!
As a school we ensure our children enjoy being outside. We have worked hard with our lunchtime supervisors so they understand:
- Well managed outdoor play is central to young children’s learning;
- The activities and resources lunchtime staff provide need careful consideration;
- The outside learning environment must be challenging and full of creative and innovative opportunities;
- That children need space, time and choice with a range of activities and experiences when playing;
- How resources or equipment might be used and how they could be built on and extended;
- When playing, children need opportunities to make choices and decisions.

We are seeking to appoint a Lunchtime Play Leader who:
- Approaches every day with curiosity, energy and enthusiasm;
- Can support children to manage emotions, develop a positive sense of self and have confidence in their own abilities;
- Through their interaction with the children supports them in developing good friendships, how to co-operate and resolve conflicts peaceably;
- Has the ability to think on their feet and use their initiative;
- Can engage children in their play and constructively lead playground games and activities.
Belmont Juniors serves a richly diverse community and works in partnership with the Vale School for children with physical disabilities.
