About the Role

We are looking for a enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Health Practitioner to join our team. The successful candidate must like to problem solve and take pride in delivering a great service to customers. You’ll need to bring a positive attitude, be prepared to try new ways of working. You must be able to celebrate success and demonstrate perseverance to achieve changing community and individual behaviour through communication and guidance. Good organisational skills will be invaluable and your focus will centre on bringing about compliance with statutory requirements through enforcement, inspection, investigation, auditing and monitoring in respect of food safety/standards, health and safety, infectious disease, licensing e.g., massage and special treatment, public health and smoke-free.

About the Team

The Commercial Environmental Health and Trading Standards team is a small but dynamic team with a number of high-profile targets to meet. As a team we work together to ensure that our personal and team objectives are met and that our local businesses are given the advice, guidance and where necessary the enforcement they need to be a compliant business.

About You

As a frontline role, good verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to explain complex legislation to a variety of audiences.

The below qualifications are an essential requirement for the role:

  • Higher Certificate in Food Control (HCFC) or Higher Certificate in food premises inspections (HCFP) or a suitable qualification as outlined in the Food Code of Practice.
  • Maintenance of competency requirements in respect of the competency framework for relevant professional bodies.
