About the Role

The primary responsibility of the role is to assist the Registered Manager in effectively managing the home, prioritizing the privacy, respect, and dignity of the young people residing there, and fostering a culture of acceptance and inclusion. They are entrusted with leading, managing, and ensuring the active participation of team members in the assessment, creation, and delivery of care plans, as well as ensuring compliance with all aspects of the young people’s care plans and identified needs. The individual is accountable for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records pertaining to the service users, ensuring the production of high-quality reports as requested by the young people’s families, the Haslemere Management Team, the Governing Body, and regulatory bodies such as CQC or Ofsted, as well as other involved professionals.

Having a sound working knowledge of child protection procedures is crucial, and the individual must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of their legal and moral obligation to safeguard children and young people from harm, abuse, and exploitation. They should also possess knowledge of the National Care Standards and the Children’s Home Regulations and be capable of ensuring that the services provided in the home not only meet but surpass the standards established by regulatory bodies and contractual obligations.

Furthermore, the individual is responsible for offering management, supervision, support, and guidance to designated team members, fostering a cohesive team environment to ensure continuity of care and effective implementation of key workers’ responsibilities. They should have experience in financial management and supporting children and young people in managing their personal belongings and money. Additionally, they are expected to contribute to the management of the home’s budget and take appropriate corrective action when necessary.

About You

  • The individual should have knowledge and experience in the care and support field, which can be gained through professional, personal, or voluntary work. They should also have knowledge of ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition).
  • In terms of education, they should have achieved a minimum of a grade D in GCSE Maths and English.
  • The individual should be flexible with their availability, willing to work according to the duty rota, which may include day shifts, weekends, and sleep-in shifts.
  • They should demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, showing a willingness to acquire new skills and knowledge in their field.
  • Recognizing that people have different ways of communicating is important, and the individual should possess this understanding.
  • Evidence of successful teamwork is necessary, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with others.
  • The individual should be capable of working independently and taking initiative when needed.
  • Having a good understanding of diversity and the ability to work with individuals from different backgrounds is essential.
