Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Planning Officer (Monitoring & Data) in the Council’s Policy, Conservation & Design Team. The post holder will have lead responsibility and accountability for:

• collecting, developing, maintaining and disseminating comprehensive land use information.
• undertaking monitoring and analysis of the Council’s planning policies including preparing the Council’s Authority Monitoring Report (AMR), and carrying out ongoing monitoring of key metrics such as the borough’s housing land supply and housing trajectory
• working proactively and collaboratively internally and externally (for example with the Greater London Authority) to share knowledge, experience and information resources in relation to monitoring and data, including the Planning London Data Hub.
• undertaking research tasks that enable the successful delivery of the Local Plan and other policy, conservation and design projects.

In addition, the post holder will:

• assist the implementation of change to modernise and digitise the systems and functions of the team and wider service
• provide planning expertise on a range of policy issues and support team consultations.

About the Team

Haringey recently became the Local Authority Planning Team of the Year 2024 at the Planning Awards 2024 and the Council’s Policy, Conservation & Design Team is now entering into a particularly exciting time with a New Local Plan until preparation, a suite of emerging Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans, and live projects to deliver as part of the Government’s PropTech funding stream and Planning Skills Delivery Fund. The team is based in Wood Green – opposite the Piccadilly Line tube station. Our friendly, talented workforce is drawn from across the globe and benefit from a positive, flexible working environment that embraces a range of progressive working practices, including flexible and home-working.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• a passion for data and helping create great places
• relevant qualifications in planning, data analysis or a related professional discipline
• experience of working on data/information analysis and analysing and interpreting large and complex sets of data to produce meaningful statistics and derive sound conclusions
• the ability to understand technical issues related to planning policy and related projects such as placemaking, viability and infrastructure delivery
• experience in the application of geographical information systems (GIS)
• excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
• good analytical and problem-solving skills
