About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the Role

In this role, you will lead the delivery of Haringey’s SEND strategy, driving high quality, inclusive practice across early years settings, schools and other educational providers. You will oversee SEND school improvement, ensuring settings have the guidance, specialist input, and tools needed to strengthen provision and accelerate progress for children and young people with SEND. Working closely with senior leaders, you will promote high standards of attainment and inclusion, using data, research and national developments to shape practice and strategic planning.

You will also build strong and effective partnerships with schools, families, and multi agency professionals to monitor, challenge, and support SEND provision across the borough. A key part of the role is leading and coordinating specialist teaching teams to champion early intervention and inclusion, ensuring that children with a wide range of needs – from communication and language to sensory and complex needs – receive timely, targeted support. You will contribute specialist advice, training and capacity building activity to professionals and parents, promoting consistent, evidence informed approaches to improving outcomes.

About the Team

You’ll be joining Haringey’s dedicated Integrated SEND Service – a collaborative, supportive group of specialists committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND. The team brings together experienced professionals across early intervention, inclusion, sensory support, educational psychology and SEND advisory services, working closely with schools, settings, families and multi agency partners.

About You

You will be an experienced and qualified SEND professional with QTS, a postgraduate SEN qualification, a SENCO qualification, and a strong track record of ongoing professional development. With substantial experience teaching children with SEND and successfully leading teams, you will bring a deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, relevant legislation, safeguarding, and the principles of effective inclusive practice. You will be confident interpreting data, managing resources and budgets, and working collaboratively with senior school leaders and multi agency partners across education, health and social care.

A skilled communicator and trainer, you will be able to influence, challenge and support a range of audiences, maintaining clarity, credibility and a strong focus on improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND. You will thrive in a fast paced environment, working flexibly under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build trusting relationships with families and professionals, and a strong commitment to early intervention and inclusion will be essential to your success in this role.
