About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Pensions Team Leader to support the Pensions Administration Manager in delivering a high-quality Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) service. This pivotal role involves leading a dedicated team within the administration function, overseeing case management, quality-checking work, and contributing to the interpretation and implementation of regulatory changes affecting the fund.
As Team Leader, you will ensure that service delivery meets agreed standards by identifying and driving process improvements, maintaining operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous development. You will play a key role in upholding the integrity of the scheme and ensuring a responsive, member-focused approach for all LGPS stakeholders.
In addition, you will be expected to deputise for the Pensions Administration Manager when required, offering leadership and guidance across the wider team and supporting strategic initiatives.
About the Team
The Haringey Pensions team is an award-winning administration team, recently winning the Pensions Administration Award at the 2024 LAPF Investment awards. A team of 12 with a firm focus on providing an excellent service to our 27,000 members, we constantly strive for improvement within our function and being at the forefront of best practice.
About You
You’ll have solid experience in Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) administration, ideally at a supervisory level, with the ability to interpret complex pensions legislation and manage challenging cases. Familiarity with pension administration systems and a track record of identifying process improvements will be key to your success.
You’re a confident communicator and a collaborative team player, able to work independently and respond effectively to shifting priorities and unexpected demands. Strong analytical and organisational skills are essential, especially when handling data, performance reporting, and managing workloads to tight deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications—particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint—is required. While industry qualifications such as PMI, CIPP or equivalent are desirable, we’re happy to support your professional development if you’re working toward them.
Working for Haringey
