About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and community-focused Library Information Officer to join our team and help deliver an exceptional library experience for all. In this rewarding role, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of library services—including key holder duties—and will play a central part in maintaining a welcoming, high-quality environment for our diverse patrons.

You’ll lead and support a wide range of activities, events, and projects that promote learning, creativity, and wellbeing. From rhyme time and arts and crafts for children to digital skills sessions and information services for adults, you’ll help bring our library spaces to life.

As a trusted source of support, you’ll also provide accurate, high-quality information to meet the health and economic needs of our community—ensuring every visitor feels informed, empowered, and included. This is a dynamic role that offers the chance to make a real impact across multiple service areas. If you’re passionate about libraries and eager to help shape their future, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Team

Haringey Libraries are at the heart of our vibrant and diverse borough—places where people come to learn, connect, and thrive. Our team is passionate about delivering inclusive, high-quality services that support literacy, wellbeing, and lifelong learning for all.

We work collaboratively across our network of libraries to create welcoming spaces, run engaging events, and provide trusted information and support to our communities. Whether helping someone access digital resources or guiding residents to health and employment services, we take pride in making a real difference every day

About You

You’re passionate about the power of libraries to enrich lives and strengthen communities. With a solid understanding of library services and emerging trends, you recognise the vital role public libraries play in supporting local needs—from literacy and learning to health and economic wellbeing.

You bring proven experience in customer service, community engagement, and event planning, and you thrive in environments where no two days are the same. Approaching every task with empathy, enthusiasm, and professionalism.

Your excellent communication and organisational skills make you a natural collaborator, and your problem-solving mindset ensures you can adapt and respond to challenges with confidence. If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact and be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team, we’d love to welcome you aboard.

Working for Haringey

At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce so welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities so that we continue to make a difference to our residents and community.

Our benefits package includes a leave entitlement up to 31 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and well-being support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money-saving discounts.
