About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
As our Investment Planning Manager, you will play a central role in shaping and managing our long-term capital investment strategy. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining multi‑year investment plans that align with organisational priorities, financial frameworks, and future demand. Using a strong evidence base, you will assess current and future investment needs, undertake detailed analysis, and provide clear insights that support effective decision-making. Part of your role will involve leading the creation of high‑quality business cases, incorporating financial modelling, risk assessment, options appraisal, scenario planning, and clear benefit forecasts. You will also contribute to strengthening governance by ensuring proposals meet expected standards and are supported with robust data. Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide strategic guidance, help set investment priorities, and ensure the organisation makes well‑informed, value‑driven decisions.
About the team
You will join a collaborative and strategically focused team dedicated to improving long-term planning, strengthening organisational insight, and promoting evidence‑based decision making. The team works across a wide range of departments, including finance, operations, digital, transformation, and programme management, ensuring that future investment needs are understood and effectively prioritised. Together, the team supports governance boards, investment panels, and executive groups by preparing high‑quality information and ensuring consistency in our planning approach. There is a strong focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and transparency, creating an environment where new ideas are welcomed and where analytical thinking plays a key role in shaping organisational direction. As part of this team, you will contribute to a culture that values insight, accountability, and long-term impact.
About you
You are a strategic, analytical, and detail‑oriented professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys shaping long‑term plans. You will bring experience in investment planning, financial analysis, capital planning, business case development, or a similar discipline where structured thinking and clear communication are essential. You are confident working with data, interpreting trends, and transforming complex information into clear, accessible insights that support strategic discussions. Your experience with structured business case methodologies, such as the HM Treasury Green Book or equivalent, enables you to assess options rigorously and communicate risks, benefits, and outcomes with confidence. You are comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, able to challenge assumptions constructively, and adept at balancing competing priorities under tight deadlines. Above all, you are committed to delivering value, improving organisational capability, and supporting well‑informed investment decisions that drive meaningful and long‑lasting impact.
