About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to join our Adult Social Services team as the Head of Localities (WestCentralEast). This critical role focuses on driving the strategic direction of adult social care services within localities, ensuring the effective integration of Social Care and Health services to deliver high-quality, personalised care for the residents of Haringey.
As Head of Localities, you will lead a large multi-disciplinary team, overseeing the operational delivery of adult social care and ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities under the Care Act 2014. You will also act as a strategic lead for key areas, such as Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, and Safeguarding, working closely with partners to ensure outcomes are achieved through collaboration and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the strategic planning, design, and operational delivery of adult social care services within localities, ensuring integration with health services.
• Act as a strategic and expert lead for areas such as Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, and Safeguarding across Adult Social Care.
• Collaborate with partners to co-design and co-produce services that meet the diverse needs of the local population, including those with specific needs and their carers.
• Ensure the effective management and coordination of local teams, promoting collaboration and communication across boundaries.
• Oversee compliance with statutory frameworks, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and others.
• Drive continuous improvement, embedding innovation into service delivery and fostering community engagement.
• Take financial responsibility for the service, managing budgets and ensuring value for money while achieving service outcomes.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
• A recognised Social Work or Occupational Therapist qualification, registered with HCPC.
• Extensive knowledge of adult social care, legislative frameworks, and the broader context of health and social care systems.
• Proven leadership experience within a complex health or social care environment, including managing large teams and budgets.
• A strong track record in strategic planning and implementing change to deliver sustainable service improvements.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships across professional and organizational boundaries.
• The ability to manage risk, solve complex issues, and deliver outcomes in challenging environments.
• Commitment to co-production and amplifying the voice of residents with lived experience.
