About the role

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Youth Coach to join our Early Help and Prevention Service. In this rewarding role, you will deliver engaging youth coaching sessions across a range of settings, including youth centres, mobile hubs, community venues and outreach locations. Working primarily during evenings and occasional weekends, you will support young people to develop confidence, resilience, life skills and positive aspirations through informal education, coaching and developmental activities. You will build trusted relationships with young people, help them achieve their goals and contribute to programmes that promote personal, social and emotional wellbeing.

About the team

You will be part of a dedicated and supportive Youth Service team committed to improving outcomes for young people across the borough. Working closely with Youth Hub Leads, outreach practitioners, NEET workers, schools, health professionals, community safety teams and voluntary sector organisations, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality early help and prevention services. Together the team champions young people’s voices, creates opportunities for growth and participation and works collaboratively to ensure every young person can access the support they need to thrive.

About you

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with experience of working with young people and families from diverse backgrounds and the ability to build positive, professional relationships. You will have knowledge of youth work as a model of informal education, an understanding of safeguarding and early help services and awareness of adolescent development. Essential requirements include a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Youth and Community Work (or a willingness to achieve this within 12 months), GCSEs or equivalent in literacy and numeracy, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage challenging situations effectively. You will be a positive role model who can work creatively to solve problems, collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, maintain professional boundaries and work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of young people
