About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
This role is a vital part of our service. It involves making offers of interim and temporary accommodation to customers who are first becoming homeless, and those who are already accepted for the main housing duty. The council has a statutory duty to ensure that eligible people who become homeless in the borough are provided with safe and suitable accommodation in their time of most need. You will need to be personable, assertive and able to handle challenging conversations. The result is a role that while fast paced can be very satisfying.
The wider team is diverse, friendly and hard working. As a service, we are responsible for making offers of settled social housing, private rented sector and temporary accommodation to households on our housing register and in temporary accommodation. This role in particular centres around making suitable offers of interim and temporary accommodation to customers owed a homelessness duty. There is deep knowledge amongst our staff and a strong desire to get the best outcome for our customers.
About you
You will be able to handle difficult conversations and can be both reactive and detailed. Ideally you’ll be someone with experience working with vulnerable customers although direct housing experience not necessary. We’re looking for someone who is keen to learn, flexible and bright that wants to make a difference in the lives of our residents.
