About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior (Housing) Communications Officer to lead, develop, and manage innovative communications strategies and campaigns. Your work will play a crucial role in delivering the council’s key messages, driving positive behavioural change, and supporting staff through continuous transformation.
Ideally, you will have a strong background in marketing and internal communications, with expertise across a full range of marketing techniques and channels. You will be responsible for producing engaging internal and external communications materials—including leaflets, magazines, posters—and for organising and managing events. Additionally, you will lead on the production of the tenants and leaseholders newsletter, create content for Haringey People, the council’s flagship magazine, and manage social media and other communication channels.
About the team
You will be part of a lively and supportive team – as well as being an extension of the housing service! You will be able to call on the media and PR management; design and branding and internal communications expertise in the team as you co-ordinate messages across our channels. Collaboration, flexibility and creativity are absolutely key to the way we work – along with the ability to juggle multiple projects to deadline and budget.
About you
We need someone who is both professional and personable—able to earn trust and respect from colleagues, suppliers, and local councillors. Creativity, innovation, and strong organisation are key, along with a proactive, collaborative approach to working with stakeholders across the council. Hands-on technical skills, particularly in copywriting, editing, and video editing, are essential. You’ll be expected to develop engaging content across multiple channels and contribute to integrated campaigns that support key council initiatives. The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects effectively will be crucial in this fast-paced environment.
