About the role
This is a 20-hour per week fixed-term role, comprising 13 hours of direct teaching and additional time allocated to lesson planning, assessment, internal verification, learner support, and associated administrative responsibilities. The postholder will be responsible for delivering high-quality counselling education, supporting learners throughout their programme, and ensuring accurate assessment and quality assurance processes are maintained. Working collaboratively with colleagues, the role will contribute to the continuous improvement of the counselling provision, helping to uphold its quality, integrity, and compliance requirements, while promoting a positive learner experience and supporting strong retention, achievement, and progression outcomes
About the team
Counselling forms part of our Functional Skills and Career Development Team, which is dedicated to supporting local residents to develop the personal, professional, and employability skills needed to achieve their aspirations and fulfil their potential. We are seeking a collaborative and committed team player who shares our passion for adult learning and community empowerment. The successful candidate will be motivated by the opportunity to support adult learners in developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to progress into employment, further study, or career advancement, while contributing positively to a high-quality and learner-centred service.
About you
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated counselling professional with a strong commitment to adult education and learner success. The successful candidate will be an experienced and collaborative team player, capable of delivering high-quality teaching and assessment while contributing positively to curriculum development and quality improvement activities. They will hold, or be working towards, an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) qualification and have a sound understanding of quality assurance processes within counselling education. A strong knowledge of the adult learning sector, including the diverse needs of adult learners, is essential, together with excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills. Above all, we are seeking someone who is passionate about supporting residents to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to achieve their personal, educational, and employment goals.
