About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
As our Strategic Asset Manager, you will lead the strategic direction, governance and long‑term planning of the Council’s property portfolio. You’ll be responsible for delivering the objectives of the Strategic Asset Management & Property Improvement Plan (SAMPIP) and supporting wider Corporate Delivery Plan priorities. This includes overseeing asset strategy and planning, portfolio optimisation, capital and cyclical programmes, compliance, risk management, and developing robust business cases to inform key decisions. You will lead major maintenance and improvement projects from inception to completion, ensuring strong performance, value for money and high customer satisfaction across our estate.
About the team
You will join the Strategic Asset and Accommodation Management service within the Finance and Resources Directorate, working closely with senior managers, Cabinet Members, the Strategic Asset Management Board, and colleagues across Corporate Landlord, Property, FM, Capital Projects and wider Council departments. The team operates at the heart of delivering a modern, efficient, safe and sustainable estate. Collaboration is central to our work: you will partner with internal services and external providers, manage consultants, coordinate project delivery, and contribute directly to shaping the Council’s long‑term property strategy.
About you
You will be an experienced asset management professional with strong strategic, analytical and project management skills. Ideally qualified to degree level in a property‑related discipline, you bring proven experience in programme and project delivery, feasibility assessments, procurement, asset data use, and translating strategic objectives into actionable plans. You are confident working with complex financial and property information, capable of influencing senior stakeholders, and skilled in producing high‑quality reports and business cases. Highly organised and proactive, you can balance competing priorities, manage consultants, and work both independently and collaboratively to ensure the council’s asset base is efficient, compliant and aligned to long‑term service needs.
Working for Haringey
At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce so welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities so that we continue to make a difference to our residents and community. Our benefits package includes a leave entitlement of 31 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and wellbeing support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money-saving discounts.
