About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the role

As a Social Worker at Haringey Council, you’ll have the opportunity to work with adults, their families, and carers to assess needs and provide support that promotes independence, wellbeing, and dignity. Your work will focus on enabling residents to live fulfilling lives by identifying strengths, coordinating appropriate services, and ensuring their voices are central to decision-making. This role will be based within the Adult Assessment Team.

At Haringey Council, we are committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive work culture. You’ll benefit from regular supervision, access to experienced managers, and a collaborative team environment that values your professional judgment, contributions, and ideas.

Haringey Council is forward-thinking and constantly seeking new ways to improve practice. You’ll be part of a progressive service that embraces creativity, technology, and innovation to achieve the best outcomes for adults in the community.

The role requires hybrid working to allow staff to carry out assessments, facilitate face-to-face visits, and ensure effective multi-agency collaboration when supporting residents.

About you

You’ll be a qualified and registered Social Worker with a strong commitment to promoting the independence, wellbeing, and rights of adults. You will have a good understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and other key legislation, alongside knowledge of strengths-based and person-centred approaches to assessment and care planning.

You’ll bring excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with adults, carers, families, and partner agencies. You’ll be confident in balancing care and support with safeguarding responsibilities, ensuring that residents’ voices are heard while risks are appropriately managed.

We’re looking for someone who is reflective, resilient, and solution-focused, with the ability to manage a varied caseload and make sound professional judgments under pressure. You will also be committed to ongoing learning and development, actively contributing to our supportive and inclusive team culture.
