About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Practitioner to join our Adults Social Services team. In this key role, you will work closely with the Principal Social Worker and Team Managers to strengthen and embed strengths-based, person-centred practice across adult social care services. You will lead on quality assurance activities, support preparation for inspections, facilitate case discussions and practice forums and help drive continuous improvement in service delivery. The role also has a significant workforce development focus, including supporting the development of apprenticeship pathways, overseeing the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme, delivering training and ensuring policies and procedures remain current and effective
About the team
Our Adults Social Services team is committed to enabling residents to live independent, fulfilling lives through high-quality, strengths-based social work practice. We are a collaborative and supportive service that values innovation, learning and professional development. Working alongside social workers, managers, workforce development colleagues, commissioners, providers and external partners, you will play a pivotal role in shaping practice standards and supporting the growth of our workforce. This is an exciting opportunity to influence service improvement, champion professional excellence and contribute to positive outcomes for both residents and staff
About you
You will be a qualified Social Worker with 2 years experience as a senior practitioner holding a recognised Social Work qualification, registered with Social Work England and eligible for an Enhanced DBS check. You will bring substantial post-qualification experience and a strong track record of delivering strengths-based social work practice. We are looking for someone with excellent knowledge of the legislative and policy frameworks that underpin adult social care, alongside experience of supporting and developing others to achieve high standards of practice. You will be confident in leading workshops, facilitating professional discussions, building strong relationships across services and driving improvement initiatives. Strong communication, report writing, organisational and IT skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and influence practice across a complex service environment.
