About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the Role
Haringey’s Repair Service is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Labourer-Driver to join our day-to-day reactive repairs team. This vital role supports the delivery of a high-quality, resident-focused maintenance service across the Council’s housing stock.
As a Labourer-Driver, you will work alongside qualified tradespeople to assist in completing repair works efficiently and effectively, contributing to our “Right First Time” approach. Your responsibilities will include carrying out minor repairs, property clearances, transporting materials and waste disposal, all while ensuring safe and compliant working practices. You’ll be a visible and trusted representative of Haringey Council, working directly in residents’ homes and other council properties.
Flexibility is essential, as you will be expected to participate in out-of-hours and emergency call-out services. You’ll also play an active role in improving service delivery by suggesting enhancements and maintaining accurate records of completed work.
About the Team
The Responsive Repairs team is dedicated to exceeding performance expectations to ensure our customers receive the best possible experience. We foster a strong team spirit built on trust, a shared vision, and a clear sense of purpose. Together, we work hard, share laughter, and learn from one another every day. We prioritise developing potential, celebrating successes, and encouraging involvement at all levels. Ideas are welcomed, shared, and transformed into actionable outcomes, creating a dynamic and engaging workplace.
About You
You’re a motivated and dependable individual with a positive attitude and a strong background in the building and trades industry. You bring hands-on experience in responsive repairs and general labouring, and you’re ready to contribute to a team that delivers excellent services to residents across Haringey.
You hold a valid CSCS Card or an equivalent site safety qualification, and ideally, you’ve undertaken additional training such as PASMA certification or site Health & Safety. You’re confident supporting Trade professionals, helping to complete repair works safely and efficiently.
A full UK driving licence is essential, as is your ability to use mobile devices to record work and navigate basic IT systems. You understand the importance of working safely in both occupied and unoccupied properties, and you consistently follow health and safety procedures. You’re someone who thrives both independently and as part of a team, with a “can-do” approach to problem-solving and a commitment to seeing tasks through to completion.
