About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fire Safety Surveyor to play a key role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and wellbeing of residents and buildings across our portfolio. In this position, you will carry out fire safety inspections, support risk assessment programmes, and provide expert guidance to ensure all properties meet the highest regulatory and safety standards. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and contractors to drive continuous improvement and ensure effective delivery of fire safety measures.
About the team
You will join a dedicated and growing Fire Safety function, working alongside experienced professionals including a Fire Safety Manager, Fire Risk Assessors, and fellow Surveyors within a multidisciplinary compliance team. This team is committed to maintaining a proactive and resident-focused approach to fire safety, fostering a culture of collaboration, expertise, and accountability. Together, you will contribute to a critical service that protects both people and property.
About you
We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical expertise alongside a proactive, solutions-focused approach to fire safety management. You’ll have hands-on experience carrying out fire safety surveys or inspections within housing or similar built environments, and a confident understanding of relevant legislation and best practice. You’ll be comfortable interpreting fire risk assessments and taking appropriate action, while communicating clearly and effectively with a range of stakeholders.
In this role, you’ll naturally demonstrate strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage your workload and prioritise effectively in a compliance-driven environment. A commitment to maintaining high safety standards is essential, and you’ll take pride in delivering work that protects residents and meets regulatory requirements. A relevant qualification in fire safety or a related discipline will support your success and help you make an immediate impact.
