About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
We are looking for an Employment Advisor to join Haringey Works and play a key role in delivering the Connect to Work programme. Connect to Work is a free and voluntary service that supports disabled people, those with health conditions and individuals facing challenging life circumstances to move into and sustain employment. It also provides help to residents who are already in work but at risk of losing their jobs, ensuring they have the support they need to stay in meaningful employment.
As an Employment Advisor, you will provide personalised, practical and motivational support. You will work one-to-one with residents to understand their strengths, ambitions and barriers to work. Using the IPS model of employment support, you will take an active, hands-on approach to guiding people into sustainable jobs. This could mean helping with CVs and applications, preparing for interviews, linking residents to employers, or providing ongoing in-work support to help them progress in their careers.
This is not just about job searching – it is about walking alongside people, building confidence, creating opportunities and helping residents achieve positive change in their lives.
About the team
Haringey Works is a well-established in-house employment support service with a strong reputation for helping local people into good jobs. The team is positive, motivated and committed to providing residents with high quality, personalised employment advice and guidance.
We are proud to be adopting the IPS model of employment support, which focuses on individual strengths, rapid access to jobs and long-term support. We have excellent connections with local and regional employers, as well as training providers and community partners, which means we are able to create the right job matches and provide opportunities that make a real difference. As part of the team you will be working in a supportive, energetic environment where collaboration, creativity and determination are at the heart of what we do.
About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping people move into and sustain employment. You will be able to work flexibly and imaginatively, tailoring your support to meet each resident’s goals and circumstances. You will have the ability to motivate, encourage and guide people through both challenges and successes. An understanding of the IPS model is desirable, but more important is your drive to support residents into meaningful and sustainable work. You will also bring excellent communication skills, problem solving ability and the confidence to build strong relationships with residents, employers and partners. This is a role where you will see the direct impact of your work every day. If you are motivated by helping people achieve lasting change, we would like to hear from you.
