About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the role

Haringey Learns is seeking 2 x passionate and skilled Associate Tutors to deliver high-quality sessions in ESOL, Health and Adult Social Care, or Childcare. We welcome applications from specialists in any of these areas. Tutors will be expected to work at our main site in Wood Green Library or in various community settings, such as schools, libraries, or partner locations.
These part-time roles offer flexible hours, including daytime, evenings, and weekends, to meet the needs of learners across the borough. Associate Tutors will plan and deliver engaging sessions, ensuring objectives align with course goals and learner development. Responsibilities include monitoring attendance, supporting learners in achieving their RARPA objectives, and collaborating on course materials and documentation. Additionally, timely reporting to meet funder requirements is essential.

About the team

Haringey Learns comprises an ESOL team and a Functional Skills team, each led by a curriculum manager and supported by several senior tutors. Tutors and Senior Tutors provide guidance to associate tutors. Additionally, the organisation includes a quality manager and a Head of Service, with each area supported by the Front-Line team and individual programme administrators.

About you

You will have a strong commitment to ongoing professional development, including undertaking regular Health and Safety, Data Protection, and statutory training. A clear understanding of and dedication to promoting the Council’s Equal Opportunities policies is essential. You will have good working knowledge of IT systems, including Word and Learner Management Systems, for administrative tasks such as registers. Flexibility and a supportive approach are key, as you may be required to take on additional responsibilities in line with the role, including marketing and enrolments. The role also requires the use of Teams for Education, with training provided if needed. Additionally, you will be expected to complete the CPD Bronze Award within six months.
