About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
As a Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Officer, you will:
- Monitor the quality and safety of regulated and non-regulated adult social care services.
- Conduct visits to care providers to assess compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead and coordinate safeguarding enquiries and investigations, as defined in Haringey’s Quality Assurance and Contract Monitoring Framework.
- Support the Chair of safeguarding strategy meetings and contribute to multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.
- Work closely with providers to improve practice and strengthen safeguarding arrangements.
- Develop and maintain systems for monitoring quality and safeguarding performance.
- Analyse information and produce reports, briefings, and recommendations for senior leaders.
- Respond to concerns, complaints, and emerging risks within the care market.
- Collaborate with health colleagues, social work teams, mental health services, and other partners to improve outcomes for residents.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about quality improvement and wants to positively influence adult social care across the borough
About the team
Our Adult Social Care Commissioning and Quality Assurance Team is committed to ensuring residents receive safe, responsive, and person-centred support. We work collaboratively with care providers, health colleagues, safeguarding partners, and people who draw on services to drive quality improvement across the local care market.
We are a supportive and ambitious team that values innovation, partnership working, and continuous learning. Together, we are focused on improving outcomes for residents by embedding the principles of Gloriously Ordinary Lives, ensuring people are not defined by the services they receive, but are supported to pursue the lives they want to lead.
We are proud of our collaborative culture, where every team member has the opportunity to influence change, develop professionally, and contribute to meaningful improvements in adult social care.
About you
We would love to hear from candidates who have:
- Strong knowledge of adult safeguarding legislation, policy, and practice.
- Experience of working within adult social care, health, commissioning, quality assurance, or safeguarding environments.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to influence, challenge, and support providers to achieve high standards.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience of working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and agencies.
- Knowledge of key legislation including the Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Care-related legislation, and Equality legislation.
- A commitment to promoting dignity, independence, choice, and person-centred support.
