We are located in the north of the capital with a population of approximately 250,000 people and a growing population of 0-19-year olds. We are a diverse and fast-changing borough and tomorrow’s leaders; artists and innovators are busy growing up here.

In short, we’re a council with high ambitions; a place to work that is full of energy and focus. Our teams have passion, integrity and commitment, and people join us, do so as they see Haringey is a learning organisation, and the people that work here strive for continuous improvement in their practice, aiming high to ensure we provide outstanding outcomes for our children.
We offer a great place to develop a career that is yours to own.

About the Role

Most social work intervention takes place during the working day, but residents may need to access support at other times. The out of hours  team provides a response to emergencies that arise outside of regular office hours to protect vulnerable children and adults. The service provides crisis support and fulfils statutory obligations and responsibilities of children’s and adult’s services. The team operates from 5:00 pm until 9.00 am on weekdays and all day on weekends and public holidays. It is a small team of social workers based at home who are all qualified AMHPs who cover a rolling rota to ensure that the service is available at all times.

About You

You will need to be an experienced team manager with background in out of hours work with a passion to lead and motivate staff to demonstrate best practice. You will have the ability to manage risk, need, resources and work collaboratively with key agencies. We also want you to hold AMHP qualification and possess significant experience in child and adult social work and be registered with Social Work England. You will be expected to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis across 7 days including overnight and high demand times. You will bring with you a proven track record of success, be able to effectively communicate in a multi-agency environment, be confident in assessing and have the ability to risk manage complex situations. The work is therefore varied, challenging and rewarding.

Working for Haringey

  • An attractive salary including out of hours allowance, AMPH skills payment and recruitment and retention enhancement with options of pension scheme, interest free season ticket loan and flexible working.
  • Learning and development opportunities including management training courses are supported by Haringey Council. You will benefit from a strong and stable management team which is keen to invest in you and your career to help you reach your potential.
