About the Service

Haringey Youth Service provides universal and targeted support for young people aged 11-19 years old (up to 25 years old where there is a specific special educational need or disability) and their families in partnership with multi-agency services.

The youth service offer includes open access provision for young people delivered from two state of the art youth centres in Bruce Grove and Wood Green localities. The open access provision for young people is delivered in the time-period where the greatest number of victims of young people is concentrated and supports the desired outcome of Haringey’s Young People at Risk Strategy (2019-2023) in relation to ‘safe communities with positive things for young people to do where there are strong role models and trust in institutions’.

A targeted youth and family support team provides allocated Early Help assessment and whole family support as part of a team around the family approach. The targeted youth support team has a specific remit in relation to early intervention and prevention with young people where there are identified vulnerabilities associated with extra familial harm.

An employment/education/training team provides allocated support for vulnerable young people aged 16-19 years old who are not in employment/education/training as well as open access ‘drop in’ provision delivered from our youth centres in the borough. The team also leads on fulfilling the local authority statutory reporting duties associated with the participation of young people in education, training, and employment.

A Youth Voice & Participation Coordinator position has also recently been created to lead the development and implementation of a universal framework informed by best practice regarding the participation of young people. This will further support services to plan, develop and evaluate their own participation practices with young people. This role will also lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation for a range of children’s services led youth participation programmes.

About the Role

Leading the strategic and operational delivery of the Haringey Youth Service offer reporting directly to the Head of Service for Early Help and Prevention. This will involve working as part of the Early Help & Prevention senior management team and a diverse range of multi-agency partners to deliver upon key local and national strategies (e.g., Borough Plan, Young People at Risk Strategy, Early Help Strategy & Supporting Families Programme).

Ensuring that operationally the day-to-day functioning of the youth service offer is delivered seamlessly and safely to a high standard. The role will lead on the continuous improvement of standards and outcomes for young people and families informed by analysis of quantitative data and qualitative feedback.

The service manager will lead the youth service leadership and management team which consists of team managers, senior practitioners, and coordinators.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and skilled leader with a proven ability of overseeing and continuously improving services which deliver outstanding outcomes for young people and their families. You will have a qualification at degree level in a related discipline such as youth and community work, youth justice studies or social work.
