About the Role
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading, developing, and managing SEND performance, data, and finance services to improve outcomes for young people. They will manage Team Managers and other staff as required, providing accountability for the delivery of services to young people and their families.
As the Service Manager, the individual will ensure that the high quality of work is maintained as a uniformly high standard and that team members’ expertise and special skills are developed through the use of supervision, appraisal, and standard setting. They will take a lead role in the delivery of the Safety Valve program, ensuring that delivery is within timescales and meeting program milestones, including overseeing the work of project managers.
The successful candidate will work with managers across the Children and Young People’s Service to ensure children receive a seamless and holistic response to their needs. As the Service Manager, they will be accountable for allocated resources and will ensure the most effective use of allocated budgets, adhere to Best Value principles, control cost, and enhance value.
About You
The ideal candidate for this role should have over 5 years of experience delivering SEND services, with experience leading and managing staff within case management teams. They should be skilled in effective partnership and inter-agency work, managing complex workloads, and setting priorities to meet challenging performance targets. A degree and continued professional development, as well as a recognised management qualification or participation in an organisational leadership or management development programme, are required. The candidate should have knowledge of legislation relating to SEND and a commitment to co-production with children, young people and families. Effective communication, creative thinking and innovative problem-solving skills are also necessary for success in this role.
