About the role

There are multiple responsibilities of this role, firstly the role aims to ensure compliance with legal requirements through investigations, inspections, and property licensing. Secondly, the focus is on contributing to the Council and service unit objectives by enhancing living conditions for households engaged in private renting. Lastly, the initiative seeks to enforce actions against landlords who do not comply with regulations, utilising the most suitable legislation for effective resolution. In essence, these efforts work towards creating a secure and compliant environment for both tenants and landlords, aligning with broader organisational goals.

About the team

Haringey is looking for an enthusiastic private sector housing team member who has a passion for their job and a desire to improve tenants living conditions. We want someone who isn’t afraid of using all the enforcement tools available to achieve this. We have both a Borough wide Additional HMO scheme and a Selective licensing scheme in place and the officer who is successful will also get involved with licensing and enforcement around licensing.

About you

The role requires effective communication skills, encompassing verbal, non-verbal, and written channels, to engage with various individuals and organizations. This involves the ability to influence, persuade, negotiate, and disseminate information successfully. Additionally, a key attribute is a heightened self-awareness, acknowledging personal strengths and weaknesses while interacting adeptly with others. The position also necessitates strong research and evaluation skills. Understanding professional ethics and considering the broader impact of one’s actions are crucial aspects of the role, highlighting the importance of ethical conduct in all professional endeavours.
