About Haringey

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Payments team manager for the Children’s Programmes team within the CYP Commissioning & Programmes service. In this role, you will serve as the Commissioning Payments Officers’ manager and oversee/coordinate their work within the Children’s Directorate.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be accountable for all aspects of the day-to-day management and operations of Payments processing, ensuring that the service demands, and corporate targets are met.
Key responsibilities:

  • Prioritise the work of the team to ensure service demands and corporate targets are met.
  • Ensure the processing of invoice payments, scheduled payments and reconciliation is delivered in a timely manner, maximising income recovery in accordance with agreed policy and procedures.
  • Manage the performance of the Commissioning Payments Officers team to ensure that they meet agreed service levels, targets and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on the team’s performance against agreed KPIs and objectives.
  • Maintain a good understanding of the policies and procedures of the Children’s Directorate and ensure the team’s compliance.
  • Identify and report any risks and issues related to the team’s work, taking corrective actions as necessary.

About the Team

As a Payments Manager, you will be reporting to the Business Manager within the Commissioning and Programmes team, within Children’s Services. This is a new team within the directorate, and it has been established to ensure that our commissioning and programme activity encompasses:

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • The ability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring they are working towards achieving agreed targets and objectives.
  • Must have an understanding of financial management and be able to manage the processing of invoice payments, scheduled payments and reconciliation processes in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
  • Experience in maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and clearly communicate with them about financial matters and team performance.
  • The ability to identify and report any risks and issues related to the team’s work, and to take corrective actions as necessary to resolve them.

Requirements: 

  • Relevant professional qualifications or experience to the job role.
  • Experience of working at a senior level in a similar role, preferably in a public sector setting.
