About the Role
Moving temporarily whilst urgent repairs are completed to your home is a stressful process to have to go through. The role of the Decant Officer is to ensure that this process is as seamless and efficient as possible through regular liaison with residents to establish their requirements, working with our empty homes team to secure an appropriate property and supporting residents throughout the move. You will also be responsible for keeping in touch with residents who have been temporarily move to update that on the progress of works to their home, managing decants payments and working collaboratively with other teams to keep track of every home and resident going through this process.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys delivering excellent customer service, working with people and providing support and advice, working dynamically between teams and bringing people together to resolve challenging issues and being out and about on site to visit and monitor decant properties.
About the Team
This is a brand new role which sits within the new Voids, Lettings and Decants team. As such, you and your manager will have the ability to make the role your own, particularly in the face of ever-changing building safety legislation, which is likely to increase the number of residents requiring an urgent move.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess a degree-level education or equivalent experience, along with a housing qualification and a commitment to ongoing professional development. They should have a proven track record of leading organizational change and working collaboratively with both internal and external partners. Experience in involving service users in monitoring and development, managing complex workloads, and delivering projects across various service areas is essential. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to develop innovative solutions, meet challenging performance targets, and excel in customer service, particularly within a social housing or tenancy management context.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and a deep understanding of social housing issues are crucial. The candidate must be strategic yet detail-oriented, with solid project management capabilities and the ability to make timely decisions under pressure. They should foster a culture of productivity and effectiveness, be committed to equality and diversity, and demonstrate motivation, enthusiasm, and flexibility. Additionally, they should possess strong numeracy and IT literacy skills and the ability to translate legislation and guidance into actionable plans.
