About the role
We are currently seeking a dynamic and driven Corporate Income and Debt Manager to join our team at Haringey Council. The role entails leading and managing a team consisting of a team leader, a deputy manager, and our collections officers. As the Corporate Income and Debt Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and driving the provision of the income and debt recovery service within Corporate & Customer Services, covering income streams for sundry debts from all areas of the Council, with an additional focus on Housing Benefit overpayments and adult social care debt.
As Corporate Income and Debt Manager your primary objective will be to maximise income collection, ensuring adherence to Council policies and procedures, as well as statutory regulations. Drawing upon your expertise, you will serve as the Council’s expert on all aspects of income and debt collection, recovery, and credit control. Providing professional advice and guidance on debt management matters will be an essential part of your role, supporting the Council in making well-informed decisions.
You will report directly to the Head of Service and play a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional customer experience, driving high levels of performance, and fulfilling key strategic accountabilities. By fostering a culture of excellent customer service and actively engaging with our residents, you will contribute to the overall success at Haringey Council and create a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.
This is an exciting role for someone keen to develop on the good work completed by the current postholder, who has been promoted internally. We are implementing new systems, processes, and partnership working, and this is an opportunity to shape and develop the service, and work as part of a fresh and dynamic management team. If you want to make a real difference, this is the place to be.
To excel in the role of Corporate Income and Debt Manager, you should bring a wealth of experience in management, particularly within an income management service. A proven track record in this field will demonstrate your ability to lead and drive results. Additionally, your expertise in debt collections and debt management systems will be crucial in ensuring effective and efficient processes.
Having a good understanding of local authorities and the unique challenges we face will allow you to navigate the intricacies of our organisation successfully. While an CICM or IRRV qualification would be beneficial, it is not essential to your application. What is essential, however, is your energy and drive for change. We are seeking a candidate with fresh ideas and a proactive approach, ready to contribute to the continuous improvement of our income and debt management services.
