About the Role
The role involves the responsibility for commissioning and overseeing capital projects across the Council’s operational and commercial buildings. This includes conducting investigations and surveys to develop client briefs, inform project scope, and create designs and works specifications. The individual is tasked with commissioning works, monitoring their timely delivery while adhering to budget and quality standards. They are also required to provide regular project highlight reports and ensure a swift response to urgent reactive works with a focus on managing health and safety risks.
A crucial aspect of the role is maintaining effective communication with building occupants and service tenants, acting as a key point of contact and addressing queries promptly. The individual must establish and implement a communications plan to keep stakeholders informed about proposed works, rationale, and benefits. Additionally, customer feedback should inform the scope of works and delivery plans.
In terms of budgets and procurement, the role involves monitoring and managing project budgets and cashflow, supporting budget forecasting and monitoring processes, and ensuring compliance with procurement processes. The individual is responsible for maintaining a focus on value for money in all procurement activities and closely managing contractors to ensure successful project delivery while avoiding contractual disputes. Furthermore, the role involves preparing reports and briefings on project progress and building condition issues for senior officers and members of the Council. Overall, the position requires a comprehensive approach to project management, stakeholder communication, and financial oversight.
About You
The individual possesses significant experience in successfully overseeing construction and building services projects. This includes a proven track record of delivering effective results within the field. They have demonstrated the ability to collaborate across various stakeholders, ensuring a customer-centric approach while achieving set objectives. The individual has a wealth of experience in commissioning and managing consultants and construction contractors, ensuring the efficient delivery of projects.
In addition to project management skills, the person has a strong background in financial management. They have effectively managed budgets, monitored expenditures, and achieved savings through strategic budgetary planning. Adherence to budget governance principles is a key aspect of their financial management approach.
Furthermore, the individual showcases proficiency in developing project briefs, service specifications, and scoping services in collaboration with stakeholders. This demonstrates their capability to understand and meet the needs of diverse stakeholders, contributing to the success of projects. Overall, their experience reflects a comprehensive skill set encompassing project delivery, financial management, and effective stakeholder engagement.
