About the role

The postholder will engage with the community on a face to face basis being the point of contact for the business.  Dealing with issues ranging from housing repairs to ASB.

Support other teams to provide joined up holistic service to residents and to embed resident engagement as part of their work.

Advise and support other teams as to best approaches for resident engagement, improvement in service deliver for our residents.

The small team of resident engagement officers are based in Commerce Road and the NRC and have a can-do attitude allowing them to act in the best interest of the resident.  Daily duties are varied and you will need to be able to have the ability to act on the spot to residents’ queries and questions. You will have excellent communication skills and will want to drive change in the area.

This is a role is based in the office or in the field as engagement is the key part for delivery.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Act as one point of contact for all repairs, ASB, estate services cases raised on Love Lane by Regeneration Team and partners
  • To track actions against case load and report back to regeneration team on progress against actions
  • To act as a single point of contact to coordinate LBH comms input into the Northumberland Park resident update.
  • To work with the council to inform and the develop the proposal for the NRC localities hub, ensuring that LBH future needs are considered.
  • To provide the Regeneration Team with regular updated on LBH projects which will affect Love Lane & Northumberland Park residents.
  • Support other teams to provide joined up holistic service to residents and to embed resident engagement as part of their work. Advise and support other teams as to best approaches for resident engagement, identifying expected (and capturing unexpected) outcomes and measuring the improvement in service delivery.
  • Profile residents to ensure we capture their preferred methods of how they would like to be engaged and what service areas they are interested in. Ensure this information is up to date and accurate at all times.
  • Gather and use customer insight information to shape services and provide information about the impact on services. Take practical steps to ensure customer perception and participation are integral to the work as required.
  • Carry out consultations with residents and tenants on various proposals as required in line with the Council’s Policy and procedures.
  • Organise training for residents to enable them to improve their skills and employment opportunities. This will involve support to use digital tools and also working in partnership with other organisations.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with community groups / individuals either in a professional or voluntary capacity. 
  • Experience of working directly with the public in a social housing or community related field.
