About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Adaptation Surveyor to join Haringey’s Adult Social Services Surveying Team. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert surveying services for properties requiring adaptations to accommodate our residents with disabilities. You will ensure high standards of work, adherence to timelines, and budget compliance with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include assessing properties that require adapting, and identifying any building defects that may affect the proposed adaptations. You will work closely with the Occupational Therapists, producing detailed specifications and AutoCAD drawings for tenders. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire process until the satisfactory completion of the works. Join us in delivering a professional and responsive adaptation service.
Our Adaptations Team is a dynamic and supportive unit within Adult Social Services. We are committed to enhancing the lives of Haringey’s residents with disabilities, through tailored home adaptations. We work collaboratively with service users, their representatives, contractors, and various professional bodies to ensure that all adaptation projects are completed to the highest standards. Our team values continuous improvement, innovation, and the sharing of best practices to achieve the best possible outcomes for our service users.
About you
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in building surveying or a related field, ideally holding an HND/HNC in building construction or equivalent professional qualification. You should have extensive experience in managing projects specifically designed for individuals with a disability. You will have a thorough knowledge of general building construction and be proficient in AutoCAD. You will also have strong organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, and have excellent communication abilities. Knowledge of building regulations, asbestos awareness, and health & safety legislation will be crucial in this role. If you are committed to high-quality service delivery and continuous professional development, we would love to hear from you.
